Science Teacher Role in an Outstanding Secondary School

About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons that inspire students to explore the world around them.
Students study Biology, Chemistry, and Physics through an ambitious curriculum that combines scientific theory with investigative practical work. At Key Stage 5, you will have the opportunity to teach your specialist discipline, preparing students for A-Level examinations while developing their analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and practical laboratory skills.
You will also contribute to curriculum development and the department's extensive STEM enrichment programme, including science clubs, competitions, educational visits, university partnerships, and outreach activities that encourage students to pursue careers in science and technology.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations
Plan and supervise practical investigations safely and effectively
Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support STEM enrichment activities and extracurricular programmes
Foster curiosity, resilience, and scientific enquiry

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Science in a specialist discipline
Experience contributing to STEM enrichment activities
Ability to support intervention programmes that raise attainment
A proven track record of delivering outstanding student outcomes
