French Teacher Role in an Outstanding Secondary School

About the Role
The successful candidate will teach French across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that inspire students to become confident linguists.
Students develop their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through a varied curriculum that explores French language, literature, history, and the culture of the Francophone world. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations while encouraging them to communicate fluently, think independently, and develop a lifelong enthusiasm for language learning.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through language clubs, cultural events, exchange visits, educational trips, and enrichment activities that broaden students' understanding of the world beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach French across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations
Develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support language enrichment activities, exchanges, and educational visits
Foster confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong enthusiasm for languages

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching French at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Excellent subject knowledge of the French language and Francophone culture
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level French
Ability to teach a second language such as Spanish or German
Experience organising language exchanges or international visits
A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
