Caretaker
A well-established Secondary School in York is seeking a dependable and hardworking Caretaker to join its premises team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the school site is maintained to a high standard, supporting both the day-to-day operation of the school and the wider learning environment.
Working closely with the Site Supervisor and Premises Manager, you will be responsible for opening and locking the school, carrying out routine inspections and completing minor repairs across classrooms, offices and communal areas. You will respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure any issues are resolved efficiently or escalated where appropriate.
The role also involves maintaining external areas, carrying out routine decorating and maintenance tasks, moving furniture and equipment, assisting with deliveries and ensuring classrooms are prepared for examinations, assemblies, parents' evenings and other school events.
You will regularly monitor site security, carry out basic health and safety checks and ensure all buildings and grounds remain safe, clean and fully operational throughout the year.
The successful candidate will have good practical maintenance skills, excellent organisational abilities and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards across the school site.

Requirements
Previous caretaking, maintenance or facilities experience desirable
Good practical maintenance and repair skills
Knowledge of health and safety procedures
