Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Year-Round Framework)
Salary: Paid to scale (Support Staff Framework)
The Role
A high-achieving Secondary Academy in Bristol is seeking a professional, highly skilled, and exceptionally organised Site Manager to take full operational responsibility for the school’s physical infrastructure, estate management, and health and safety compliance. This is a critical leadership role within the school's support team, perfectly suited for an experienced estates professional or facilities manager who excels at managing large-scale assets, coordinating contractor networks, and ensuring a safe, premium environment for students and staff.
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day maintenance, security, and strategic development of the school buildings, extensive playing fields, and high-tech facility blocks. Key responsibilities include managing the premises team (including caretakers and cleaning staff), implementing a comprehensive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule, and running routine safety testing logs (including fire alarms, emergency lighting, legionella flushing, and lift compliance). Additionally, you will oversee the building management systems (BMS), monitor energy consumption parameters, and manage external contractors during large-scale refurbishment projects.
You will act as the principal advisor to the School Business Manager and Principal on all matters relating to health and safety (Health and Safety at Work Act framework) and statutory building compliance. Absolute professionalism, calm problem-solving capabilities, and crisp communication skills are vital, as you will balance reactive maintenance emergencies with long-term capital expenditure tracking and detailed compliance documentation.
