Sociology Teacher - Highly Regarded Secondary Academy in Manchester
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid to scale
The Role
A highly regarded Secondary Academy in Manchester is seeking a professional, highly analytical, and exceptionally organised Sociology Teacher to join their experienced and successful Social Sciences faculty. This is a premier opportunity to step into a rapidly expanding department where the study of social structures, demographics, and institutional frameworks is immensely popular with upper-school and sixth-form cohorts.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional leadership across Key Stages 4 and 5. The timetable will involve delivering a rich, challenging curriculum covering the sociology of education, families and households, and research methodologies at GCSE, alongside advanced modules in global development, crime and deviance, beliefs in society, and stratification frameworks at A-Level. Beyond classroom teaching, responsibilities include constructing comprehensive student tracking portfolios, implementing targeted intervention tracks for essay-writing fluency, managing parental correspondence, and supporting the school's regional youth parliament and social research initiatives.
You will act as a primary link with parents, examination boards, and local university social science networks, requiring absolute professionalism and data accuracy at all times. Strong organisational skills are a prerequisite, as you will balance heavy mock diagnostic marking cycles with real-time digital progress logging within a fast-paced urban school framework.
The academy is looking for a proactive, reliable professional who can deconstruct complex social theories (such as Functionalism, Marxism, Feminism, and Postmodernism) and empirical studies into crisp, engaging, and high-impact lessons. Strong communication, deep data literacy, and a collaborative spirit are important to thriving within this progressive academic faculty.
