The Role
A thriving Secondary Academy in Gloucester is seeking a professional, highly creative, and exceptionally organised Design & Technology Teacher specializing in Graphic Products and Product Design. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional leadership across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The timetable will involve delivering a rich, challenging curriculum covering conceptual design, packaging architecture, material properties, and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) at GCSE and A-Level. Beyond classroom teaching, responsibilities include constructing comprehensive student portfolio tracking files, implementing targeted intervention tracks for design sketching and data modeling, managing workshop materials logs, and supporting the school's regional young designer showcases.
You will act as a primary link with parents, examination boards, and local creative industry networks, requiring absolute professionalism and data accuracy at all times. Strong organisational and safety tracking skills are a prerequisite, as you will balance heavy design folder moderation cycles with real-time digital progress logging and strict workshop safety parameters (DATA guidelines).

Requirements
A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a specialization in Design & Technology, Product Design, or Graphic Communication
Proven experience teaching Design & Technology up to GCSE and A-Level specifications
Exceptional knowledge of workshop health and safety legislation (DATA certification is highly desirable)
Good IT and data tracking capabilities, with confidence utilizing 2D/3D software (such as Adobe Suite or TechSoft)
Ability to work effectively and adaptably within a fast-paced department
