Attendance Officer
A successful Mixed Secondary School in Wigan is seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who understands the importance of excellent attendance in promoting student achievement, wellbeing and safeguarding. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with students, families, teaching staff and external agencies to ensure attendance remains a key priority across the school.
You will monitor daily attendance, complete first-day absence procedures, maintain accurate attendance records and analyse attendance data to identify trends requiring intervention. Working closely with Heads of Year and pastoral leaders, you will implement attendance strategies that support students in achieving consistently high attendance.
Responsibilities include producing attendance reports for senior leaders, organising attendance meetings, maintaining accurate records using the school's management information system and ensuring all statutory attendance procedures are followed.
You will also contribute to safeguarding processes, liaise with external agencies where necessary and build positive relationships with students and families to remove barriers to regular attendance.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, outstanding organisational abilities and a professional, confidential approach to managing sensitive information.
