French Teacher Role in a High-Achieving Secondary School

A high-achieving and inclusive Secondary School in Luton is seeking to appoint a passionate and skilled French Teacher to join its successful Modern Foreign Languages department from September. About the Role

The successful candidate will teach French across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that develop students’ fluency, confidence, and cultural understanding.

Students study a broad curriculum that develops skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while exploring the culture, traditions, and contemporary life of French-speaking countries. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations, supporting them to achieve strong academic outcomes and develop a lifelong interest in languages.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through enrichment activities such as language clubs, cultural events, trips abroad, and cross-curricular projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach French across KS3, KS4, and KS5

• Deliver engaging and high-quality language lessons

• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

• Develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills

• Assess progress and provide effective feedback

• Support curriculum planning and departmental development

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching French at secondary level

• Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

• Strong subject knowledge of French language and culture

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level French

• Ability to teach an additional language (Spanish or German)

• Experience contributing to language enrichment or trips

• Strong track record of student progress and achievement
