The Role
An outstanding Secondary Academy in Birmingham is seeking a professional, high-energy, and exceptionally organised Female Physical Education (PE) Teacher to join their expanding sports faculty. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a department that treats sports science, female empowerment, and athletic leadership as core pillars of the curriculum, boasting exceptional indoor sports hubs, dance studios, and outdoor performance facilities.
Note: Due to nature of the provisions of this role, including supervising female changing environments and leading gender-specific practical modules, this post has an occupational requirement for the successful applicant to be female.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional leadership across multiple key stages, specializing in exercise physiology, sports psychology, and biomechanics for GCSE and A-Level exam cohorts, alongside delivering inclusive practical tracking modules across Key Stage 3. Key responsibilities include maintaining precise student fitness and tracking records, updating internal tracking software, managing departmental equipment logs, and coordinating an extensive timetable of regional netball, football, and athletic fixtures.
You will act as a primary link with parents, regional athletic bodies, and local sports clubs, ensuring that all off-site fixture permissions, health and safety risk assessments, and student athletic metrics are processed with total accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills are necessary, as the role requires balancing active practical coaching outdoors with detailed coursework logging and academic theory delivery.
The academy is looking for a proactive, reliable professional who can break down anatomy parameters, fitness methodologies, and tactical theories into crisp, engaging, and high-impact lessons while serving as an inspiring role model for young women in sport. Requirements
A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a degree in Physical Education or Sports Science
Proven experience teaching GCSE PE and A-Level / Level 3 BTEC Sport specifications
Professional and proactive approach to managing outdoor educational health and safety protocols
Good IT and data tracking capabilities, with confidence using digital learning platform tracking systems
Ability to work effectively and dynamically across extended hours during peak school sports fixture cycles
