CORE PURPOSE
We require an inspiring, highly literate English Teacher to deliver outstanding English Language and English Literature instruction across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5. Operating within a prestigious independent day school framework, the successful candidate will facilitate a knowledge-rich, text-driven curriculum designed to foster advanced critical reading, sophisticated analytical prose, and a lifelong appreciation for the literary canon, preparing all students thoroughly for exceptional outcomes in terminal GCSE and linear A-Level English public examinations.

Elevating Written Rhetoric & Essay Writing: Train students to a high technical standard in structuring sophisticated written arguments, deploying advanced essay-writing frameworks (AO2/AO3 analysis), and mastering stylistic mechanics, vocabulary, and syntactical variety.
A-Level Literature & Language Specialism: Deliver academic, lecture-style modules at Key Stage 5, providing the necessary scholarly scaffolding to bridge the gap to undergraduate-level literary critique, creative writing, or linguistic analysis.
Vibrant Co-Curricular Contribution: Actively lead and enrich the school’s co-curricular timetable, directing debating societies, public speaking competitions, creative writing workshops, and contributing to school literary publications.
Holistic Pastoral & House Mentorship: Fulfill full form tutor and house responsibilities within our established independent school structure, supporting student wellbeing, fostering house spirit, and maintaining proactive, professional partnerships with families.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related humanities discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver top-tier progress metrics and exceptional high-grade boundary retention in terminal public GCSE and A-Level examinations within an ambitious, high-attaining setting.
