Maths Teaching Role in a High-Performing Secondary School
A high-performing Secondary School in Newham is seeking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join its successful Mathematics department from September. This is a full-time role within a well-established and inclusive school that places strong emphasis on academic excellence, high expectations, and exceptional teaching.
Mathematics is a central part of the curriculum, with students encouraged to develop fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills through a carefully structured and engaging programme of study.
About the Role
You will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering high-quality lessons that challenge students and support excellent progress.
Students study a broad curriculum including algebra, geometry, ratio, probability, statistics, and higher-level mathematical reasoning, with A-Level teaching available depending on experience and departmental needs.
You will help students build confidence and resilience in mathematics, preparing them for GCSE and A-Level examinations while contributing to intervention strategies and enrichment opportunities such as maths clubs and competitions.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Mathematics across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Develop students’ fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
Assess student progress and provide high-quality feedback
Support intervention strategies to raise attainment
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Promote participation in maths enrichment and wider school initiatives

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Mathematics
Ability to contribute to maths intervention and enrichment programmes
Experience working within a high-performing secondary setting
Strong track record of improving student outcomes
