The successful candidate will teach Geography across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that develop students’ understanding of physical and human geography, global issues, sustainability, and the world around them. The Role
As a Geography Teacher, you will plan, deliver and assess high-quality lessons that challenge students and support excellent academic progress. You will use assessment effectively to identify areas for development, adapt teaching, and inspire students to achieve their potential.
You will encourage students to think critically, explore geographical concepts, analyse data, interpret information, and understand the relationships between people, places and environments. The role will also involve contributing to fieldwork opportunities, enrichment activities, and the wider life of the school.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, deliver and assess engaging Geography lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
• Develop students’ understanding of physical and human geography through relevant case studies and real-world examples
• Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform future planning
• Differentiate teaching to support and challenge learners of all abilities
• Create a positive, ambitious and inclusive classroom environment
• Encourage independent learning, resilience and academic confidence
• Develop students’ geographical skills including data analysis, map skills and fieldwork techniques
• Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development and improvement initiatives
• Support fieldwork opportunities, enrichment activities and wider school events
• Encourage students’ interest in global issues, sustainability and future careers
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be an Early Career Teacher completing training
• Have experience teaching Geography at KS3 and KS4, with KS5 experience desirable
• Be passionate about Geography and able to inspire high-achieving students
• Have excellent subject knowledge and a commitment to academic excellence
• Possess strong classroom management and communication skills
• Be reflective, organised and committed to continuous professional development
• Have a positive, collaborative approach to working with colleagues
