CORE PURPOSE
We require an innovative, highly skilled Design and Technology (DT) Teacher to deliver outstanding product design, systems, and materials instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Operating within a progressive mainstream academy framework, the successful candidate will facilitate a structured, project-led curriculum designed to foster deep technical drawing capability, spatial reasoning, and confident tool and CAD/CAM fabrication skills, preparing all pupils thoroughly for terminal GCSE Design and Technology public examinations and portfolio moderations.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Project-Led Technical Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver high-quality design and technology lessons across all attainment pathways, embedding consistent practical projects to demystify material properties, electronics, and mechanisms.
CAD/CAM & Digital Innovation: Train students extensively in modern industry software (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) techniques, bridging traditional manufacturing craftsmanship with cutting-edge digital production.
Rigorous Workshop Safety Leadership: Manage busy school workshop spaces with flawless adherence to Health and Safety executive guidelines (including DATA training standards), teaching safe tool handling, machine operation, and material preparation.
GCSE Portfolio Tracking: Guide Year 11 cohorts systematically through the demands of Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) portfolios and terminal written papers, meticulously tracking design folders to ensure comprehensive evidence of research, development, and testing.
Community Pastoral Care: Fulfill full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, managing daily registration, delivering pastoral curriculum units, and maintaining proactive, supportive communication with families.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Product Design, Engineering, Three-Dimensional Design, or a closely related technical discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics and exceptional practical outcomes in terminal public GCSE Design and Technology examinations through structured, explicit technical pedagogy.
