Drama Teaching Role in a Performing Arts College
A vibrant Performing Arts College in Birmingham is seeking to appoint a creative and inspirational Drama Teacher to join its successful Performing Arts department from September. About the Role
You will teach Drama across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering dynamic and practical lessons that inspire students to explore performance, theatre, and dramatic techniques.
Students will study a range of theatrical practitioners, genres, and performance styles while developing acting, devising, directing, and evaluative skills. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Drama and Theatre qualifications, supporting them in achieving excellent outcomes.
The role will also involve contributing to school productions, showcases, theatre visits, and extracurricular activities that enrich students’ experiences of the performing arts.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Drama across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Drama examinations
Direct and support school productions and performances
Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Organise enrichment activities, workshops, and theatre trips
Promote participation in the performing arts across the school

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Drama at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Drama and Theatre Studies
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Drama and Theatre
Experience directing school productions and performances
Ability to contribute to wider performing arts initiatives
Strong track record of examination success and student progress
