History Teaching Role in a Voluntary Aided School
A successful Voluntary Aided School in Leeds is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History Teacher to join its thriving Humanities department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and values-driven school that combines strong academic standards with excellent pastoral care.
History is a popular subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of historical events and their impact on the modern world.
About the Role
You will teach History across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that inspire curiosity and a passion for learning.
Students will explore a diverse range of historical periods, themes, and societies, developing their ability to analyse sources, construct arguments, and evaluate differing interpretations of the past.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level History examinations, supporting them in achieving excellent outcomes and progressing to higher education and a wide range of careers.
Working within a collaborative Humanities department, you will contribute to curriculum development, educational visits, and enrichment opportunities that bring history to life.
Key Responsibilities
Teach History across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging and academically rigorous lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Develop students' source analysis and evaluative writing skills
Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
Monitor progress and implement intervention strategies where required
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support educational visits and Humanities enrichment activities

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching History at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in History
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level History
Experience working within a Voluntary Aided or faith-based school setting
Ability to contribute to educational visits and enrichment programmes
Strong track record of examination success and pupil progress
