Business Teaching Role in a Sixth Form College

A successful Sixth Form College in Sheffield is seeking to appoint an ambitious and knowledgeable Business Teacher to join its thriving Business and Economics department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-achieving post-16 environment that values academic excellence, independent learning, and outstanding teaching.

Business is one of the college’s most popular subjects, attracting motivated students who are keen to develop a strong understanding of entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, operations, and the wider business environment.

About the Role

You will teach Business Studies at A-Level, delivering engaging and academically rigorous lessons that challenge students and prepare them for success in examinations, higher education, and future careers.

Students will explore topics such as business strategy, marketing, finance, human resources, operations management, and decision-making in a dynamic global economy.

You will support students in developing analytical, evaluative, and essay-writing skills while helping them achieve excellent outcomes and progress to leading universities, apprenticeships, and business-related careers.

Working within a collaborative department, you will contribute to curriculum development, enrichment activities, and progression support programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach A-Level Business Studies

• Deliver engaging and academically challenging lessons

• Prepare students for A-Level examinations

• Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback

• Monitor student progress and provide targeted intervention where required

• Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development

• Support enrichment activities, enterprise events, and university preparation

• Maintain high expectations for achievement and academic conduct

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification

• Experience teaching Business Studies at KS5 or secondary level

• Strong subject knowledge in Business and related disciplines

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Commitment to supporting student achievement and progression

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level Business Studies

• Experience working within a Sixth Form College or post-16 setting

• Degree in Business, Economics, Management, or a related field

• Ability to contribute to enterprise and enrichment programmes

• Strong track record of examination success
