Psychology Teaching Role in a Sixth Form College
A thriving Sixth Form College in Bristol is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Psychology Teacher to join its successful Social Sciences department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-achieving and academically focused setting that values independent thinking, academic rigour, and outstanding teaching.
Psychology is a popular and highly regarded subject at the college, with students encouraged to develop critical thinking, scientific understanding of behaviour, and strong evaluative skills.
About the Role
You will teach Psychology at Key Stage 5 (A-Level), delivering engaging and academically challenging lessons that support student achievement and progression to higher education.
Students will study key psychological approaches, including cognitive, biological, psychodynamic, and behavioural perspectives, alongside research methods, evaluation skills, and applied topics such as social influence, memory, attachment, and psychopathology.
You will prepare students for A-Level examinations, supporting them in achieving excellent outcomes and progression to university courses in psychology, education, health, and related fields.
You will work closely with colleagues in the Social Sciences department to maintain high standards of teaching, assessment, and student support.
Key Responsibilities
Teach A-Level Psychology
Deliver engaging and academically rigorous lessons
Support students with exam preparation and essay writing skills
Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
Track student progress and provide targeted support
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental resources
Support academic enrichment and progression activities
Maintain high expectations for student achievement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching Psychology at A-Level (or strong KS4 Social Sciences background)
Strong subject knowledge in Psychology
Ability to teach KS5 confidently
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable
Experience working in a Sixth Form College or post-16 setting
Degree in Psychology or related discipline
Experience supporting university progression pathways
Strong exam preparation experience
