English Teaching Role in a Grammar School
A high-achieving grammar school in Wolverhampton is seeking to appoint a passionate and knowledgeable English Teacher to join its successful English department from September. About the Role
You will teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that inspire curiosity and academic excellence.
Students will study a diverse range of literary texts, poetry, drama, fiction, and non-fiction while developing analytical writing, critical evaluation, and effective communication skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations, supporting students in achieving outstanding academic outcomes and progression to higher education.
You will work collaboratively within a successful English department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging lessons that develop literacy and analytical skills
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations
Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support literacy initiatives and enrichment opportunities
Maintain high standards of classroom engagement and achievement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English Language and/or Literature
Experience working in a grammar or high-achieving school setting
Ability to contribute to debating, creative writing, or literary enrichment activities
Strong examination preparation experience
