History Teacher – Secondary School, Shropshire

A friendly and ambitious secondary school in Shropshire is seeking a History Teacher to join its Humanities department from September. This full-time role suits a teacher who can bring the past to life and develop students' skills in enquiry and argument.

About the Role You will teach History across KS3 and KS4, covering a varied curriculum that develops chronological understanding, source analysis, and persuasive writing. There is potential to contribute to KS5 provision depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach History across KS3 and KS4

  • Prepare students for GCSE History examinations

  • Develop students' source analysis and essay-writing skills

  • Plan engaging lessons that bring historical periods to life

  • Assess work and provide regular, constructive feedback

  • Contribute to Humanities department planning and enrichment activities

The School Environment The school has a strong sense of community and a Humanities faculty that works closely together to share ideas and resources. Staff are supported through regular CPD and a leadership team that values subject expertise.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Strong subject knowledge of History across KS3 and KS4

  • Experience teaching History at secondary level

  • Good classroom management and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level History

  • Experience leading or supporting historical trips

  • Interest in cross-curricular Humanities projects
