Wayman Education is seeking an enthusiastic and insightful Psychology Teacher to join a highly successful social sciences department at an exceptional secondary school and sixth form in Sawbridgeworth. This full-time, permanent position is scheduled to start in September 2026 and is open to both experienced practitioners and ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging Psychology lessons across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level).

• Develop students' critical thinking, scientific research skills, and psychological literacy in line with exam board specifications (such as AQA or OCR).

• Assess, track, and report on the academic progress and attainment of students, utilizing data effectively to stretch high-attainers and support those requiring intervention.

• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and academically rigorous classroom environment that fosters mutual respect and curiosity.

• Contribute to the wider life of the social sciences department, participating in standardization, moderation, and sixth form open evenings.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, alongside a degree in Psychology or a closely related social science discipline.

• Experience: A proven track record of teaching Psychology up to A-Level within a UK secondary school or sixth form college setting (including successful ITT/PGCE placements).

• Skills: Exceptional subject knowledge, excellent classroom management techniques, and the ability to break down complex theoretical and statistical concepts for all learners.

• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
