Art Teaching Role in a Grammar School
A high-achieving grammar school in Luton is seeking to appoint a creative and passionate Art Teacher to join its successful Creative Arts department from September. This is a full-time role within an academically ambitious and supportive school that values creativity, artistic expression, and exceptional teaching.
Art is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop technical skills, creative confidence, and critical thinking through a broad and engaging curriculum spanning fine art, mixed media, drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital techniques.
About the Role
You will teach Art across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering inspiring and engaging lessons that encourage experimentation, creativity, and independent artistic development.
Students will explore a wide range of artistic styles, techniques, and historical influences while developing observational drawing, critical analysis, and portfolio-building skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations, supporting students in producing high-quality coursework and achieving excellent academic outcomes.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Creative Arts department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Art across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Art lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations
Support portfolio development and exhibition opportunities
Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
Maintain inspiring and well-organised studio environments
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support extracurricular art clubs, trips, and enrichment activities

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Art at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Fine Art and creative processes
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Art
Experience working in a grammar or high-achieving school setting
Ability to contribute to exhibitions or enrichment activities
Strong portfolio and coursework guidance experience
