Design & Technology Teaching Role in an Independent School
An independent school in Norwich is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic DT Teacher to join its successful department from September. This is a full-time role within a nurturing and academically ambitious school that values creativity, problem-solving, and exceptional teaching.

About the Role
You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and hands-on lessons that inspire creativity and technical thinking.
Students will develop knowledge and skills across areas such as product design, resistant materials, engineering principles, graphics, CAD/CAM, and design processes while learning to solve practical challenges through innovation and critical thinking.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level/Level 3 DT qualifications, supporting students in producing high-quality coursework and achieving excellent outcomes.
You will work collaboratively within a successful department while benefiting from smaller class sizes, specialist facilities, and a strong focus on personalised learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based DT lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level/Level 3 DT examinations
Support coursework and practical project development
Maintain safe workshop and classroom environments
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support extracurricular STEM or design enrichment activities

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology
Strong classroom and workshop management skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level or Level 3 DT
Experience working in an independent school setting
Specialism in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, or Graphics
Ability to contribute to STEM or enrichment activities
