Science Teaching Role in an Independent School
An independent school in Nottingham is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join its successful department from September. This is a full-time role within a nurturing and academically ambitious school that values scientific enquiry, intellectual curiosity, and exceptional teaching.
Science is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop curiosity, analytical thinking, and practical investigative skills across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
About the Role
You will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that inspire curiosity and academic confidence.
The role includes both practical and theoretical teaching, helping students develop confidence in experimentation, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations, supporting students in achieving excellent outcomes and progression to higher education, including STEM-related pathways.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Science department while benefiting from smaller class sizes, excellent resources, and a strong focus on personalised learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Maintain safe laboratory procedures and environments
Contribute to STEM enrichment and departmental initiatives

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Science
Experience working in an independent school setting
Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment activities
Strong track record of examination success
