Wayman Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Maths Teacher to join a thriving mathematics department at a highly regarded secondary school in Sawbridgeworth. This full-time, permanent position is scheduled to start in September 2026 and is open to both experienced teachers looking for a new environment and ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

The school provides a highly supportive atmosphere with an established structure for professional development. The maths faculty is collaborative, forward-thinking, and exceptionally well-resourced, aiming to make mathematics accessible, engaging, and challenging for students of all abilities.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality mathematics lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 for a suitably qualified candidate).

Develop students' mathematical fluency, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills through structured and engaging instruction.

Assess, track, and report on the academic progress and attainment of students, utilizing data to implement effective interventions where necessary.

Maintain a positive, productive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages a growth mindset toward mathematics.

Participate actively in departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and the wider extracurricular life of the school.

Requirements

Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, along with a degree in Mathematics or a highly numerical discipline.

Experience: A proven track record of teaching mathematics within a UK secondary school setting (including successful PGCE/ITT placements).

Skills: Strong subject knowledge up to GCSE level minimum, excellent classroom management strategies, and the ability to differentiate lessons effectively for varying learning needs.

A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
