CORE PURPOSE
We require an ambitious, intellectually rigorous English Teacher to deliver high-quality literature and language instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves facilitating a challenging, knowledge-rich curriculum that sharpens pupils' textual analysis, critical writing capacity, and oral articulation, preparing them thoroughly for public examinations and lifelong literary engagement.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Curriculum Design & Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver highly structured English lessons that engage and challenge pupils across all academic profiles, adapting the curriculum to align with Isle of Man Department of Education, Sport and Culture (DESC) frameworks.
Textual Analysis & Literacy Expansion: Guide pupils through the mechanics of complex prose, poetry, and drama, embedding sophisticated frameworks for analytical essay writing, structural critique, and vocabulary acquisition.
Examination Preparation: Guide Key Stage 4 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal IGCSE / GCSE English Language and English Literature specifications, maximising progress and attainment outcomes.
Progress Monitoring: Implement rigorous formative marking and summative assessment routines, utilising tracking data to design sharp, targeted interventions that close learning gaps.
Pastoral Responsibilities: Undertake full form tutor duties, managing daily registration, monitoring pupil attendance, and delivering the school's structured personal and social development units.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching credential legal for registration with the Isle of Man Education Council, paired with a strong honours degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related humanities discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics in public examinations through explicit, text-first classroom instruction.
Routine Implementation: The ability to execute school behaviour policies with absolute consistency, maintaining a positive, highly focused, and strictly disciplined classroom culture.
