CORE PURPOSE
We require an ambitious, highly skilled Key Stage 1 (KS1) Teacher to deliver high-quality primary education to a Year 1 cohort. The role involves facilitating a creative, foundation-strong academic curriculum that accelerates early literacy, mathematical fluency, and cognitive development, ensuring a smooth and successful transition for pupils moving from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) into formal Key Stage 1 learning.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Curriculum Design & Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver highly engaging, evidence-based lessons across all core and foundation subjects, tailored specifically to the developmental transitions of Year 1 learners.
Early Literacy & Phonics Mastery: Implement robust systemic synthetic phonics programmes (such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.) with absolute consistency to secure rapid reading mechanics, decoding skills, and vocabulary acquisition.
Numerical Fluency Foundations: Guide pupils systematically through early mathematical concepts, abstract reasoning, and concrete-pictorial-abstract approaches to build rock-solid early number sense.
Academic Progress Monitoring: Execute rigorous formative assessment strategies, tracking early learning milestones closely to design sharp, targeted small-group interventions that close learning gaps early.
Pastoral & Safeguarding Care: Maintain proactive, close communication with families, managing daily registration, pupil well-being, and establishing a nurturing, safe classroom environment.
ENVIRONMENT & STRUCTURE
Community School Framework: Operating within a well-established community primary structure, our school benefits from deep-rooted local partnerships, a supportive infant teaching team, and a shared commitment to providing inclusive, high-aspiration educational opportunities.
Behaviour Systems: The campus implements highly consistent, positive reinforcement behaviour routines that maintain a quiet, respectful, and orderly atmosphere, ensuring early years classrooms remain calm, predictable, and entirely optimised for focused learning.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised primary teaching credential, paired with a solid understanding of the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum and early childhood development.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to demonstrate exceptional phonics delivery and primary pupil progress through explicit, structured, and warm pedagogy.
Routine Implementation: The ability to execute school behaviour and pastoral policies with absolute consistency, maintaining a positive, structured, and high-expectation classroom culture.
REGIONAL CONTEXT
Royal Heritage & Riverside Innovation: Based in the historic town of Windsor, Berkshire, the school operates within a prestigious Thames Valley locale globally celebrated for its rich royal heritage, iconic architecture, and vibrant riverside economy that seamlessly blends traditional tourism with modern corporate enterprises.
