Economics Teaching Role in a Sixth Form College
A high-achieving sixth form college in Brighton is seeking to appoint an ambitious and knowledgeable Economics Teacher to join its successful Social Sciences department from September. This is a full-time role within an academically focused and supportive environment that values intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and exceptional teaching.
Economics is a popular subject within the college, with students encouraged to engage with contemporary economic issues while developing analytical, evaluative, and quantitative skills.
About the Role
You will teach Economics primarily at Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and academically rigorous lessons across both microeconomics and macroeconomics.
Students will explore topics such as market failure, inflation, fiscal and monetary policy, labour markets, globalisation, economic growth, and international trade while developing strong essay-writing, data interpretation, and evaluative skills.
You will prepare students for A-Level Economics examinations, supporting them in achieving excellent outcomes and progression to competitive university courses and career pathways.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Social Sciences department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Economics at KS5
Deliver engaging and intellectually challenging lessons
Prepare students for A-Level Economics examinations
Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant post-16 teaching qualification
Experience teaching Economics at KS5 or equivalent
Strong subject knowledge in Economics
Ability to inspire and challenge sixth form students
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Economics
Experience in a sixth form or high-achieving academic setting
Ability to contribute to enrichment, debate, or economics societies
Strong track record of examination success
