Design & Technology Teaching Role in an Independent School
An independent school in Nuneaton is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Design & Technology (DT) Teacher to join its department from September. About the Role
You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons that inspire creativity and technical confidence.
Students will explore areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics, and design processes while developing practical making skills, CAD/CAM understanding, and evaluative thinking.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level DT qualifications, supporting them in developing strong technical and analytical skills while encouraging innovation and independent thinking.
You will work collaboratively within a supportive DT department while benefiting from smaller class sizes, excellent facilities, and a strong focus on personalised learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based DT lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level DT qualifications
Maintain safe workshop procedures and learning environments
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support STEM and wider enrichment opportunities

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level DT qualifications
Specialism in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, or Graphics
Experience working in an independent school setting
Ability to contribute to STEM or extracurricular activities
