English ECT Role in an Outstanding School
An outstanding school on the Isle of Man is seeking to appoint a passionate and ambitious English Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join its department from September. This is an exciting opportunity for an ECT looking to begin their teaching career within a high-performing and supportive school environment.
English is a highly valued subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop strong literacy, analytical thinking, creativity, and communication skills through an engaging curriculum in English Language and English Literature.
About the Role
You will teach English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 as your experience develops, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons in both English Language and English Literature.
Students will study a wide range of texts including Shakespeare, poetry, prose, drama, and non-fiction while developing analytical, interpretative, and creative writing skills.
As an ECT, you will benefit from a comprehensive induction programme, dedicated mentoring, reduced timetable, and excellent professional development opportunities designed to support your transition into teaching.

Key Responsibilities
Teach English across KS3 and KS4
Deliver lessons in English Language and English Literature
Support students in developing literacy and analytical skills
Assess student work and provide constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Participate fully in the ECT induction programme
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental activities
Support literacy and enrichment initiatives

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
QTS or currently completing teacher training leading to QTS
Specialism in English or related subject
Passion for English Language and Literature
Strong communication and classroom management potential
Commitment to pupil progress and professional development
Desirable
Experience teaching English during training placements
Ability to contribute to literacy or extracurricular activities
Interest in working within a high-achieving school environment
