Science Teaching Role in a Secondary School
A well-established secondary school in Rugby is seeking to appoint a Science Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and ambitious school that values scientific enquiry, academic excellence, and high-quality teaching.
Science is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop curiosity, analytical thinking, and practical investigative skills across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
About the Role
You will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that develop students’ scientific understanding, practical skills, and analytical thinking.
The role includes both classroom teaching and practical laboratory work, helping students build confidence in experimentation, data analysis, and scientific reasoning.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations, supporting students in developing strong subject knowledge, scientific literacy, and exam confidence.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Science department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Maintain safe laboratory procedures and environments
Contribute to STEM enrichment and departmental development

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Science
Specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment activities
