Economics Teaching Role in a Secondary School
A well-established secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking to appoint an Economics Teacher to join its Humanities or Business faculty from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and ambitious school that values academic excellence, critical thinking, and strong university progression.
Economics is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop analytical, evaluative, and quantitative skills while engaging with real-world economic issues and global developments.
About the Role
You will teach Economics primarily at Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and academically rigorous lessons across microeconomics and macroeconomics.
Students will study topics including market structures, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy, international trade, and economic development, while developing strong essay writing, data interpretation, and evaluation skills.
You will prepare students for A-Level Economics examinations, supporting them in achieving strong academic outcomes and progression to competitive university courses.
Where applicable, you may also contribute to Business Studies at Key Stage 4.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Economics at KS5 (KS4 Business desirable)
Deliver engaging and academically rigorous lessons
Prepare students for A-Level Economics examinations
Assess student work and provide high-quality feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support academic extension and enrichment opportunities
Maintain high standards of classroom engagement and behaviour

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Economics or Business at secondary or sixth form level
Strong subject knowledge in Economics
Ability to teach KS5 confidently
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Economics
Experience working in an independent or high-achieving school setting
Ability to contribute to enrichment or academic extension activities
