Biology Teaching Role in an Outstanding Secondary School
An outstanding secondary school in Norwich is seeking to appoint a Biology Teacher to join its Science department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-performing and supportive school that values scientific enquiry, academic excellence, and high-quality teaching.
Biology is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop curiosity, analytical thinking, and investigative skills through engaging practical and theoretical learning.
About the Role
You will teach Biology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ understanding of living organisms, biological systems, and scientific enquiry.
Students will study topics including cells, genetics, ecosystems, human physiology, evolution, microbiology, and biodiversity while developing confidence in experimentation, data analysis, and scientific reasoning.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Biology examinations, supporting them in developing strong subject knowledge, practical skills, and exam confidence.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Science department committed to maintaining outstanding standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Biology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Biology lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Biology examinations
Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Maintain safe laboratory procedures and environments
Contribute to STEM enrichment and departmental development

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Biology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Biology
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Biology
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment activities
