Food Technology Teaching Role in an Outstanding Secondary School
An outstanding secondary school in Warwickshire is seeking to appoint a Food Technology Teacher to join its Design & Technology department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-performing and supportive school that values creativity, practical learning, and high-quality teaching.
Food Technology is a popular subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop practical cooking skills, nutritional knowledge, food science understanding, and an appreciation of healthy lifestyles.
About the Role
You will teach Food Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons that develop students’ confidence and competence in food preparation and nutrition.
Students will explore topics including food safety, nutrition, dietary needs, food provenance, product development, and food science while developing practical cooking and evaluative skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level/Food Science and Nutrition qualifications where applicable, supporting them in building strong practical, analytical, and examination skills.
You will work collaboratively within a successful department committed to maintaining outstanding standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Food Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Food Technology lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and post-16 Food qualifications
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health and safety
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support enrichment activities and wider departmental initiatives

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Food Technology and Nutrition
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching KS5 Food qualifications
Experience preparing students for GCSE and post-16 examinations
Food hygiene qualifications or relevant industry experience
Ability to contribute to enrichment or healthy living initiatives
