The best English teachers do more than teach texts. They spark curiosity, build confidence, challenge opinions and help young people find their voice.
An outstanding secondary school in Reading is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher from September 2026 to join a thriving and supportive department. This is a full-time, permanent position and an exciting opportunity to become part of a school where academic excellence sits alongside genuine care for students and staff.
English is a highly valued subject within the school. Students enjoy reading, debating ideas and developing their writing, and the department plays a central role in helping them become thoughtful, articulate and confident young people. Whether exploring Shakespeare, analysing modern literature or encouraging creative writing, our English teachers inspire students to think deeply and communicate effectively.
You will be joining a collaborative team who genuinely enjoy working together, sharing ideas and supporting one another. The department has a strong track record of success, but equally important is the enthusiasm and passion that teachers bring into the classroom every day.

Contribute to the wider life of the school through clubs, enrichment opportunities and school events.
This is a school in Reading where creativity, collaboration and high expectations go hand in hand. Students are eager to learn, behaviour is excellent and staff are trusted to innovate and share best practice.
