Art Teaching Role in an Outstanding Secondary School
An outstanding secondary school in Northampton is seeking to appoint an Art Teacher to join its Creative Arts department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-performing and supportive school that values creativity, self-expression, and high-quality teaching.
Art is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop confidence, creativity, and technical skill through a broad and engaging curriculum.
About the Role
You will teach Art across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering inspiring lessons that develop students’ artistic skills, creativity, and visual communication.
Students will explore a range of disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, digital art, and art history while developing their own creative identity and portfolio work.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations, supporting them in developing strong practical, analytical, and evaluative skills.
You will contribute to enrichment opportunities including exhibitions, competitions, and wider creative projects.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Art across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Art lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Support exhibitions, displays, and creative enrichment activities
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Maintain a stimulating and safe classroom environment
Promote creativity, confidence, and independent learning

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Art at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge across a range of artistic disciplines
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Art
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to exhibitions or enrichment programmes
