The Opportunity
Liverpool is a world-renowned cultural capital and a historic maritime powerhouse, celebrated globally for its literary heritage, poetic tradition, and expanding digital media and creative industries. From the legendary prose and drama that shaped its identity to its contemporary status as a premier UK filming and broadcast location, the city thrives on the power of communication and narrative. We are seeking an intellectually rigorous, deeply passionate English Teacher to join a progressive academy. In this role, you will challenge students to master sophisticated literary analysis, advanced rhetoric, and critical textual deconstruction—showing them how written and spoken language constructs global perspectives and shapes contemporary societies.
The School
Operating as an independent academy within a forward-thinking multi-academy trust, our school combines innovative educational practice with robust operational support. We benefit from centralized administrative and resources infrastructure networks, freeing our teaching staff to focus entirely on academic delivery. We implement explicit, highly consistent, school-wide behavior routines that keep our campus quiet, respectful, and orderly. This structured environment ensures that our classrooms remain calm, purposeful, and highly focused spaces where teachers can lead deep textual exploration and sophisticated academic debate effectively.

The department features contemporary, resource-rich learning spaces equipped with extensive reading anthologies, digital media suites, and modern analytical tools.
Our curriculum explicitly bridges classic canonical texts with contemporary literature, focusing heavily on structural mechanics, linguistic devices, and historical context.
Staff benefit from shared planning pools and centralized resource banks, allowing the team to deliver high-challenge units while keeping individual marking workloads highly manageable.
Core Responsibilities

Data-Driven Intervention: Utilizing granular assessment tracking to identify learning gaps early, providing targeted, high-impact feedback ahead of terminal GCSE examinations.
Form Tutor Duties: Leading a dedicated form group, acting as the primary point of academic, pastoral, and holistic support for a cohort of students.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for an ambitious subject specialist who is passionate about the power of language and literature and possesses the pedagogical skill to challenge and stretch inquisitive young minds. Your profile should include:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related humanities discipline.
