Economics Teaching Role in an Independent School
An independent school in Liverpool is seeking to appoint an Economics Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a well-established school that values academic excellence, analytical thinking, and high-quality teaching.
Economics is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills while gaining an understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and real-world economic issues.
About the Role
You will teach Economics across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that develop students’ understanding of key economic principles and contemporary economic issues.
Students will study topics including market structures, inflation, unemployment, government policy, globalisation, and economic development while developing strong quantitative, analytical, and essay-writing skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Economics examinations, supporting them in building confidence with data interpretation, case study analysis, evaluation, and exam technique.
You will work collaboratively within a successful department while benefiting from smaller class sizes and strong pastoral support.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Economics across KS4 and KS5
Deliver engaging and structured Economics lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Economics examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support enrichment opportunities such as enterprise or debating activities
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Economics at secondary or sixth form level
Ability to teach KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Economics
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Economics
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to enrichment or enterprise programmes
