Salary: £22,500 – £25,000 per annum (pro-rata, Term-Time Only)

About the School:
We are seeking to appoint a welcoming, professional, and highly organized School Receptionist on behalf of a thriving primary school in Darlington. As the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and pupils, you will play a vital role in representing the warm, community-focused values of the school. Joining a close-knit office team, you will enjoy a supportive working environment and comprehensive training on our internal systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the professional face of the school, greeting parents, contractors, and visitors warmly and managing the visitor sign-in system.
Answer the main telephone line, handling queries efficiently, taking accurate messages, and transferring calls to relevant staff members.
Manage incoming and outgoing mail, deliveries, and central school email correspondence.
Provide day-to-day administrative support, including updating pupil data on the management information system, typing letters, and filing.
Assist with managing late arrivals, signing pupils in and out of the building, and coordinating first-aid or student welfare calls where required.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a receptionist, customer service, or administrative role (experience within an educational setting is highly advantageous but not essential).
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm, professional, and empathetic phone manner.
Strong IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.
High level of discretion and a firm commitment to maintaining confidentiality and strict safeguarding standards.
