We are seeking an analytically driven, systems-minded Data Officer to join an innovative studio school. In this pivotal role, you will take full ownership of the school’s academic and operational data architecture—transforming raw information into clear, actionable tracking tools that empower teachers, shape leadership decisions, and directly drive student outcomes.
The School
Operating as an innovative studio school, our institution redefines secondary education for 14 to 19-year-olds by combining mainstream academic qualifications with rigorous, project-based vocational pathways. Working closely with prominent local tech, digital, and media employers, we cultivate a professional, workplace-simulated environment. We implement clear, mature, school-wide behaviour expectations that mirror a modern corporate office—ensuring our campus remains calm, purposeful, and highly focused. We treat our support and operations teams as elite professional partners, giving you the trust, independence, and technical resources needed to optimize our data systems.
The Data Department & Analytical Culture
You will join a highly focused, modern Operations and Data team where statistical precision, structural integrity, and digital efficiency are championed.
The department utilizes industry-standard Management Information Systems (MIS), integrated assessment platforms, and advanced cloud-based data visualization software.
Our administrative framework explicitly prioritizes lean data collection, cutting out redundant processes to ensure reporting cycles are sharp, accurate, and highly useful without creating unnecessary teacher workload.
Staff benefit from clear data drop calendars and standardized data-cleaning protocols, allowing you to manage complex census and examination seasons smoothly and sustainably.
Core Responsibilities
MIS Architecture & Management: Maintaining the absolute integrity, security, and accuracy of the school’s internal Management Information System (MIS), managing student records, scheduling, and profiling data.
Assessment & Tracking Systems: Building, customizing, and managing granular student progress tracking templates to monitor academic performance, generating clear statistical reports for teachers and senior leaders.
Statutory Returns & Census Execution: Leading the preparation, validation, and submission of all mandatory Department for Education (DfE) statutory returns, including the School Census and workforce collections, ensuring complete compliance.
Examination Data Analytics: Processing, analyzing, and distributing detailed performance metrics following mock and terminal GCSE, A-Level, and technical examinations, highlighting trends and learning gaps early.
User Support & Training: Acting as the school's technical specialist, providing clear guidance and troubleshooting support to teaching and administrative staff on data entry systems and reporting tools.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for a meticulous, highly analytical professional who loves manipulating data structures, identifying trends, and presenting complex metrics with absolute visual clarity. Your profile should include:
Proven Educational Data Experience: Strong previous experience managing data infrastructure, tracking systems, or school databases within an educational environment (experience with school MIS platforms like SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom is highly advantageous).
Advanced Technical Literacy: Exceptional capability with spreadsheet applications (including advanced Excel formulas, pivot tables, and conditional formatting) and a clear capacity to quickly master complex database management tools.
Meticulous Eye for Detail: An uncompromising approach to data security, GDPR compliance, and accuracy, with the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and work systematically under tight reporting deadlines.
Articulate Communication: The ability to translate complex numerical datasets into plain, clear insights for non-technical teaching staff and school governors.
Why Join Our Operations Team?
The unique professional satisfaction of working within a tech-forward studio school where your data models directly support tailored career pathways for young innovators.
Continuous professional development (CPD) focusing on advanced data analytics, emerging educational software platforms, and pathways into strategic school business operations.
The exceptional lifestyle benefits of living and working in Hackney—one of London's most culturally vibrant boroughs, offering an unmatched food and arts scene, beautiful parks like Victoria Park, and world-class, rapid transport connectivity via the Overground network.
A supportive, forward-thinking senior leadership team that respects operational autonomy, protects work-life balance, and deeply values the role data plays in school improvement.
