About the Role
You will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons in both English Language and English Literature.
Students will study a broad range of texts including prose, poetry, drama, Shakespeare, and non-fiction while developing analytical thinking, creative expression, and extended writing skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations, supporting them in building confidence with interpretation, essay writing, and exam technique.
You will work collaboratively within a successful English department while benefiting from smaller class sizes and strong pastoral support.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver lessons in English Language and English Literature
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support literacy initiatives and enrichment activities
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to literacy or enrichment programmes
