Drama Teaching Role in a High-Performing Secondary School
A high-performing secondary school in Stevenage is seeking to appoint a Drama Teacher to join its Performing Arts department from September. This is a full-time role within an ambitious and supportive school that values creativity, confidence, and high-quality teaching.
Drama is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop performance skills, creativity, collaboration, and self-expression through practical and theoretical learning.
About the Role
You will teach Drama across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that inspire creativity and build students’ confidence in performance and communication.
Students will explore a range of dramatic techniques, theatre practitioners, script analysis, devised performance, and stagecraft while developing collaboration, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Drama examinations, supporting them in practical performance, coursework, and written analysis.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Performing Arts department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Drama across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Drama lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Drama examinations
Direct performances, productions, and enrichment activities
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Drama at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Drama and Performing Arts
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Drama
Experience directing school productions or performances
Ability to contribute to extracurricular Performing Arts activities
