History Teaching Role in a Grammar School
A grammar school in Liverpool is seeking to appoint a History Teacher to join its Humanities department from September. This is a full-time role within an academically ambitious school that values critical thinking, historical enquiry, and high-quality teaching.
History is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop analytical skills, independent thinking, and a strong understanding of key historical events, movements, and interpretations.
About the Role
You will teach History across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ understanding of historical themes, chronology, source analysis, and interpretation.
Students will study a broad curriculum that may include British history, international conflict, political movements, social change, and modern world history while developing strong essay-writing and evaluative skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level History examinations, supporting them in building confidence with source analysis, historical argument, and exam technique.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Humanities department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach History across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging and structured History lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level History examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support enrichment opportunities including trips and clubs
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching History at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in History
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level History
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to enrichment activities or educational visits
