Design & Technology Teaching Role in an Outstanding Secondary School
An outstanding secondary school in Hampshire is seeking to appoint a Design & Technology Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-performing and supportive school that values creativity, innovation, and practical learning.
Design & Technology is a successful and well-established subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop technical understanding, design thinking, and problem-solving skills through hands-on and theoretical learning.
About the Role
You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ creativity, technical knowledge, and practical skills.
The role includes teaching across a range of DT disciplines depending on specialism, such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, or Graphics.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level DT examinations, supporting students in developing strong coursework portfolios, practical project work, and technical understanding.
You will work collaboratively within a successful department committed to maintaining outstanding standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver practical and theory-based DT lessons
Support students in developing coursework and design portfolios
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level DT examinations
Assess student work and provide detailed feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Maintain workshop safety and good practice
Contribute to curriculum planning and enrichment opportunities

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong practical workshop skills and subject knowledge
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level DT or Product Design
Experience in specialist areas such as CAD, Resistant Materials, or Engineering
Ability to contribute to STEM or enrichment activities
