An outstanding primary school in Berkshire is seeking to appoint a Year 6 Teacher to join its team from September. This is a full-time role within a high-performing and supportive school that places strong emphasis on pupil achievement, wellbeing, and high-quality teaching.
Year 6 is a key stage within the school, supporting pupils as they prepare for SATs and transition to secondary education while developing independence, resilience, and academic confidence.
About the Role
You will teach a Year 6 class, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons across the Key Stage 2 curriculum while preparing pupils for SATs and successful transition to secondary school.
The role includes supporting pupils in developing confidence in English, Mathematics, Reading, Writing, and the wider curriculum through creative and differentiated teaching approaches.
You will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel supported, challenged, and motivated to achieve their full potential.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach a Year 6 class across the KS2 curriculum
Prepare pupils for SATs and transition to secondary school
Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons
Assess pupil progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor attainment and maintain accurate records
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Support pupils’ personal, social, and emotional development
Contribute to wider school life and curriculum initiatives

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching within Key Stage 2
Strong understanding of the Year 6 curriculum and SATs preparation
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment
Desirable
Experience teaching Year 6
Experience supporting pupils through SATs preparation
Ability to contribute to wider school initiatives or extracurricular activities
