Art Teaching Role in a High-Performing Secondary School
A high-performing secondary school in Nottinghamshire is seeking to appoint an Art Teacher to join its Creative Arts department from September. This is a full-time role within an ambitious and supportive school that values creativity, self-expression, and high-quality teaching.
Art is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop technical skills, creative confidence, and an appreciation for a range of artistic styles and media.
About the Role
You will teach Art across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that inspire creativity and develop students’ artistic techniques and visual communication skills.
Students will explore a range of disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, and contextual studies while building strong portfolio work and creative independence.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations, supporting them in developing coursework portfolios, practical projects, and critical understanding.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Creative Arts department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Art across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Art lessons
Support students in developing portfolios and coursework
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to exhibitions, enrichment, and departmental development
Maintain a safe and inspiring studio environment

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Art at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge across a range of artistic disciplines
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Art
Experience supporting GCSE and A-Level portfolio development
Ability to contribute to exhibitions or creative enrichment activities
