French Teaching Role in a Faith Secondary School
A well-regarded faith secondary school in Nottingham is seeking to appoint a French Teacher to join its Modern Foreign Languages department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and values-led school that places strong emphasis on academic achievement, cultural understanding, and high-quality language teaching.
French is a valued subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while gaining a deeper appreciation of francophone cultures.
About the Role
You will teach French across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ communication skills and linguistic confidence.
Students will build vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, translation, and conversational fluency through a range of interactive and structured learning activities.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations, supporting them in developing strong language skills, cultural awareness, and exam confidence.
You will work collaboratively within a successful MFL department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach French across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging lessons in speaking, listening, reading, and writing
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Promote cultural awareness and language enrichment opportunities
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching French at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in French
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level French
Ability to teach an additional language such as Spanish or German
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
