Science Teaching Role in a Secondary School
A secondary school in Bolton is seeking to appoint a Science Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and well-resourced school that values academic progress, practical learning, and strong outcomes in STEM subjects.
The Science department delivers a broad curriculum across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with students encouraged to develop curiosity, analytical thinking, and strong investigative skills.
About the Role
You will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ scientific knowledge and practical understanding.
The role includes both theoretical content and laboratory-based practical work, supporting students in developing confidence in experimentation, data handling, and scientific reasoning.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations, supporting them in achieving strong outcomes through structured teaching and effective exam preparation.
You will work collaboratively within a committed Science department focused on high standards and student progress.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations
Assess, track, and report student progress
Maintain safe laboratory practice and procedures
Contribute to curriculum planning and STEM enrichment activities
Support intervention and revision programmes

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge across the sciences
Good classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
Experience teaching A-Level Science
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
