Science Teaching Role in a High-Performing Secondary School
A high-performing secondary school in Northampton is seeking to appoint a Science Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within an ambitious and supportive school that places strong emphasis on academic achievement, practical learning, and excellent STEM outcomes.
The Science department delivers a broad curriculum across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with strong uptake at GCSE and A-Level.
About the Role
You will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ scientific understanding, practical skills, and analytical thinking.
The role includes both theoretical teaching and practical laboratory work, helping students build confidence in experimentation, data analysis, and scientific reasoning.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations, supporting them in developing strong subject knowledge, exam technique, and scientific writing skills.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Science department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations
Assess student work and provide detailed feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Maintain safe laboratory practice and procedures
Contribute to STEM enrichment and departmental development

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Science
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment activities
