Computer Science Teaching Role in a Mixed Comprehensive School
A mixed comprehensive school in Newcastle is seeking to appoint a Computer Science Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and inclusive school that values innovation, digital literacy, and strong academic outcomes.
Computer Science is a growing and highly valued subject within the school, with students developing practical programming skills, computational thinking, and understanding of digital systems across all key stages.
About the Role
You will teach Computer Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ understanding of programming, algorithms, cybersecurity, networks, and computer systems.
Students will be supported in developing practical coding skills and problem-solving techniques through both theoretical and project-based learning.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Computer Science examinations, helping them build confidence in computational thinking, programming logic, and technical knowledge.
You will work collaboratively within the department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Computer Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging lessons in programming and computing theory
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and development
Support coding clubs, STEM enrichment, or digital initiatives
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Computer Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Computer Science
Experience with programming languages such as Python or Java
Ability to contribute to STEM or coding enrichment activities
