English Teaching Role in a Faith Secondary School
A well-regarded faith secondary school in Liverpool is seeking to appoint an English Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and values-led school that places strong emphasis on academic achievement, literacy development, and student wellbeing.
English is a highly valued subject across the school, with students developing strong skills in reading, writing, analysis, and spoken communication.
About the Role
You will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons in both English Language and English Literature.
Students will study a broad range of literary texts including prose, poetry, drama, and non-fiction while developing analytical thinking, extended writing, and communication skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations, supporting them in building confidence with interpretation, academic writing, and exam technique.
You will work collaboratively within a successful English department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver lessons in English Language and Literature
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support literacy and enrichment initiatives across the school
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to literacy or enrichment programmes
